MEET THE REFEREE
PROGRAM
LHGCL requires each Under 11 To
participate in the league's "Meet the Referee Program."
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A REQUIREMENT
FOR PARTICIPATING IN OUR LEAGUE. Every Under 11 team must complete
this program in the Fall season, or your team will not be allowed to
return to the league (in either division) the next soccer year (the
following August). We are very serious about this program, and
appreciate each team's cooperation.
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Pay an additional $25 at Fall
Registration to pay for the cost of the "Myths of the Game" video.
-
The team is required to host a
video-viewing session for the parents and players to view this video.
The video must be viewed prior to your "meet the referee session" as
described below.
-
Parents are then required to attend a classroom session
that will be held in a meeting room at Presbyterian Hospital while the
teams are warming up at Moss for one of the first couple of weekend
games in the Fall. Your commissioner will notify you
when your classroom session will be. At least one parent of
no less than 2/3 of your players must be present (we prefer that ALL
parents be present). The referee will go over some of the finer
points of the games, answer questions, discuss why calls are made and
not made, etc. The team must pay the referee $25 at the beginning
of the session.
This program has been very successful and well-received by
teams in the past. The parents have reported that they really got a
lot out of it and enjoyed the additional knowledge and seeing the game
from the referee's perspective.
