We have made plans to host a soccer game in memory
of Kasey with the additional purpose of raising money for the scholarship
fund in her name.
Here are the details:
We have secured UTD Field #1 for
Sunday, September 26th from 2:00 to 4:30 PM. All Lake Highlands Division 1
teams have responded positively to this plan. Our plan is to divide the girls into an
even number of teams of 9 to 11 players. We have asked each D1 teams to
bring as many girls (hopefully all) to participate. We will have the girls
draw numbers when they arrive. We will not divide the girls by position or
teams - it will be strictly random. The girls should bring their white and
dark game jerseys. Each team would then play a 15 or 20 minute game (time
depends on how many teams we end up with, 8 or 10). These will truly be friendlies and the time will be a celebration for Kasey's memory. No real
coaches will be on the sidelines. We think we will have 2 mom's from each
division 1 team be the coaches for the teams (total of 10-12 moms - one
mom for each team). Any volunteers?!!!
We can not charge admission so funds would be raised by
asking for donations at the gate. The donations will be split by the
Texans and D'Feeters to fund a scholarship for a graduating player each
year for the next 4 years. This will keep Kasey's spirit a part of our
teams during the time she would have been participating in club soccer. We
are asking the 92 & 94 D'feeters teams to assist us at the gate and also
with selling drinks during the games. We are planning on bringing several
coolers filled with soda's, Gatorades and water to sell at the game.
Please spread the word to anyone that you feel would enjoy coming to the
games and supporting the scholarship fund. Our purpose is to raise money
for the scholarship fund but much more important is the purpose of drawing
together, having a good time as we remember our dear friends, the Graham
family.
