UT DALLAS RULES
UPDATED NOVEMBER 2007

Coaches and Managers,

This is to notify you of a rule change that may affect your teams. Overall we have had very good compliance among our teams with UTD's requests for no soccer parking in the parking lot just east of fields #7 & #8 at any time, and for no soccer parking in the main athletic parking lot during the week.

However, there are a significant number of parents, spectators, coaches, and managers who may not have a clear understanding of the parking rules - or feel the parking rules don't apply to them - who continue to park in violation of UTD's requests.

Since the league has hundreds of thousands of dollars at stake in the soccer complex, we can't afford to let this issue negatively affect our relationship with UTD. Therefore, as of Tuesday, September 14, 2004, the LHGCL board passed a rule imposing a $25 fine for each car found in violation of any of the parking rules at UTD. The fine will be imposed on the team whose parents, spectators, players, managers, and/or coaches are parking in a restricted area. Once your team has been notified of a parking fine, you will not be allowed to play any games until the fine is paid. If your fine has not been paid before your next scheduled game, your team will forfeit the game. Any fines you receive for parking violations may be remitted to your commissioner, Jim Creasey, or Hugh Clark and must be received prior to your next game.

Please note that current UTD parking permit holders are excluded from league fines and may park anywhere their permit allows.  If you get fined by LHGCL for a parking violation and you have a valid UTD parking permit, please let us know and your fine will be dropped Fines collected at UTD are being used to fund our soccer scholarships.

To reiterate the available soccer parking and restricted areas:

·         Soccer parking is allowed on the gravel parking lot southeast of the fields at any time games are played at UTD.

·         Soccer parking is allowed in the main athletic parking lot (the paved UTD lot) on WEEKENDS ONLY.

·         The apartment parking lots north and west of the fields are for the exclusive use of apartment residents and their guests; no soccer parking is allowed at any time.

·         The parking lot east of fields 7 and 8 is reserved at all times for UTD students and faculty; no soccer parking is allowed in that lot at any time.

·         The main athletic parking lot is reserved for use by UTD students and faculty weekday afternoons and evenings.

I know a lot of you feel the parking rules are trivial, but let me assure you that they are not seen that way by UTD. Since UTD takes them seriously, we must do the same. Consequently we will no longer tolerate any illegal parking for soccer events.

For questions about the locations of allowed parking at UTD please refer to the parking diagram below.

Please remember that developing this complex is an on-going process that takes a lot of money. If anyone out there would like to get involved with the board in helping to improve the complex, raise money, donate much-needed items, etc., please let us know. We could use all the help we can get.

With ownership comes responsibility...

  • TRASH: Don't let it hit the ground. Put all trash (especially used tape) in the trash barrels. Leaving trash on a field can subject your team to a $50 fine. If trash is left by the game ahead of yours, stop the parents as they are leaving the field and ask them to pick it up. If they don't do it, then your team will be responsible. EVERYONE HELP OUT HERE!!
  • DO NOT CLIMB THE FENCE.  No explanation needed.  This will cause an immediate ejection from the complex as well as a two game suspension.
  • WARM-ups in pentalty boxes are prohibited.  Failure to adhere to this rule may result in a $25 fine.  Warm-ups in this case will be defined as goalkeeper warm-ups and/or any repetitive drill with team players that causes excessive wear on the pitch.
  • DO NOT -- PLEASE -- DO NOT drive your car on the walkway between the fields or on the jogging path.
  • VARSITY FIELD #1: The first field in the complex - the one with the green fence around it - is the college's varsity field. STAY OFF!!! IT IS OFF LIMITS TO EVERYONE, PLEASE! No warm up, no individual playing around, no trespassing at all.  You can't even walk through the north gate to get to the other fields.  Please just go in the main entrance to the complex.
  • SEATING: We don't have many bleachers at this point in time, so everyone needs to remember their lawn chairs.  At UTD, the teams sit together on the side opposite the spectators.
  • FACILITIES: There are bathrooms located in the concession building at the main complex. For fields 7 and 8, there is a portable potty located between the fields on the east side.
  • NETS/FLAGS: The nets will be up on all the fields. Each team is responsible for 2 corner flags. You don't have to worry about taking the nets down after the last game of the day. We're leaving them up, even on #7 and #8.
  • DROP-OFFS: PLEASE do not stop on University Parkway to drop off your child or equipment. It is not safe and it blocks traffic. If you’re seen dropping off there your team will be fined $25.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE LIGHTS AT UTD

PLEASE DO NOT turn on the lights at UTD until they are absolutely needed. Occasionally the lights are being turned on 45 minutes to an hour before they are needed.  UTD pays for this electricity and, in the past, to keep costs low they restricted when we can turn them on.  For several years we worked under the restriction that lights couldn’t be turned on at UTD before 8:00 pm until after October 1st.  UTD had the master timer set to not come on before 8:00 pm.  By the last few weeks of September we had a serious problem finishing 6:30 pm games before it got too dark to play.  In the older age groups games had to be delayed in the second half until after the lights came on at 8:00 pm.

If this request is not followed, it will be the teams who suffer, sorry to say. In mid-to-late September, the teams will have to stand around waiting in the dark until 8:00 pm to turn on the lights.

PLEASE WAIT UNTIL IT'S NECESSARY BEFORE TURNING ON THE LIGHTS!

We'll all be better served with everyone's cooperation.

THANK YOU!
