Special
Scheduling Requests
These
will be followed to the letter!
Any other requests will be ignored.
All special
requests (following these guidelines) must be made in writing and turned
in to your Age Division Commissioner when specified by the league,
usually at the coaches'/managers' meeting prior to the Fall season. YOU
MUST be very specific about each special request and YOU MUST list a
reason for each request and how many players are affected or the request
will be ignored.

Guidelines:
1. Teams
may not request any Weekends off except teams going to WAGS
and/or other approved tournaments.* (Teams may be asked to
prove they are going to an approved tournament by showing a
copy of the acceptance letter, or some other suitable form
of proof.)
2. Teams are allowed to pick 5 specific days (specific
dates) off to allow
for school sports only
- no weekends. (This does NOT mean that you should
pick 5 dates to ask off just without good cause. A majority
of your players must actually be involved in school
sports.) Coaches at this level need to take a player's
commitment level into account when selecting members of the
team.
3. We will do our best to schedule around coaching
conflicts for
two teams only.
Coaches who coach more than two teams are on their own.
4. Spring Break - teams may request one week of
weeknights
off ONLY if a majority of their players are
actually going out of town for spring break.
No weekends will be given off for Spring Break. Travel plans
should be made to leave late Sunday afternoon, and return
the next Friday so players will be available for play on
Saturday and/or Sunday. Please remember, just because you
don’t have a game scheduled on Sunday (prior to your spring
break) in the original schedule doesn’t mean you won’t have
a rainout game scheduled for that day after the season
begins.
5. U17 and U19 teams only can request Saturday mornings
off for SAT and ACT. |
STANDARD SCHEDULING GUIDELINES USED BY THE LEAGUE
(You don't have to ask for these):
We do not
schedule games at the following times:
1. Labor Day Weekend
2. Thanksgiving Weekend (Thursday - Sunday)
3. Easter Weekend
4. During State Cup (except teams eliminated from state cup the first
weekend could have a make-up game scheduled on the second weekend of
State Cup if absolutely necessary).
We do our
absolute best to schedule teams coming from the western area of the
Metroplex for the late weeknight time slot. Sometimes that isn't
possible, but every effort will be made to honor this.
We will
schedule (reschedule) around high school soccer playoffs for teams who
have a sufficient number of players involved in the playoffs so as to
give the team less than eight (8) players available for a game. Schools
will be verified according to the list of players and their school that
the teams turn in prior to the fall season.
HINT:
DO NOT schedule tournaments during league play dates, and
don't forget that because of rainouts, the league could be extended
beyond the last date shown on the schedule. If we have to extend the
season, you will be expected to play. We will let you off to play in
WAGS and/or other approved tournaments,*
but you have to put that on your
written request turned in at the August Coaches’/Managers’ meeting. We
will not honor fall break at all because it affects so few
schools. Conflicts must affect several players on your team – not just
one or two! Consider requesting a morning or afternoon game on a
particular Saturday or Sunday to work around other activities going on
with several of your players. Do your homework! Poor planning on your
part does not constitute an emergency on our part.
One weekend at the end of each season will be reserved as a rainout
weekend. The rainout weekend for your age group will be posted in the
LHGCL Calendar on the website. DO NOT schedule tournaments on this
weekend! Rainout games may be scheduled, and no allowance for tournament
play will be made. If makeup games are necessary after that weekend, the
league will work with the teams to schedule makeup games taking teams'
tournament schedules
into consideration.
